Book Review: “Ada Lovelace Cracks the Code”, by Rebel Girls

Cover of the book "Ada Lovelace Cracks the Code", by Rebel Girls

“Forge your own path,
and make it your truth.”

★★★☆☆

I’m out of my comfort zone here, but since I’m currently studying programming, I couldn’t resist.

This is a story about the very first person to understand computers the way we now do, a story of a strong woman, to future strong women, by strong women.

If the lack of testosterone jumped at you, congratulations! This children’s book is part of a collection about prominent women that made history – Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. They are obviously focused on women, but no worries, you can also find the Good Night Stories for Rebel Boys for gender equality.

There is nothing much to say about this very short book – if you enjoy simple and yet well written stories, if you’re looking for encouraging a little girl (or boy) into computer science, here’s your book. Maybe it will lack few biographical accuracies, but it comes with very simple exercising in programming and with colourful and eye-catching picture, both made – you got it! – by other fellow women.
